Our partnerships

Tomorrow’s energy begins with collaboration

We believe that energy challenges should not be faced alone. This is why we build alliances with leading industrial players and multinationals, sharing a common objective: to recover the heat dispersed by industrial activities and transform it into new energy that is useful for everyone.

With our district heating system, we serve strategic infrastructures and new districts, actively participating in projects of urban redevelopment and upgrading which are redesigning our towns and cities.

At our side, universities and research centres are helping us to develop increasingly efficient, innovative and sustainable solutions.

In this way, every partnership becomes an opportunity to reduce emissions, harness existing resources and together create concrete models of circular economy and ecological transition.

With our partnerships, we confirm our ongoing commitment to the decarbonization of towns and cities through the use of innovative technologies which accelerate their ecological transition.

Luca Rigoni, Chairman and CEO of A2A Heat and Services

Industrial partners

Recover heat, extend the network, generate shared value

We collaborate with key industrial sectors to recover the heat dispersed by steelworks, WtE plants and production facilities. This enables us to fuel the district heating network more efficiently and more sustainably, avoiding wastage and reducing emissions.

These partnerships help us to extend the service, bringing more and more environmental and economic advantages to local communities.

“
Margherita Stabiumi, Alfa Acciai board member

The Alfa Heat Recovery project, developed thanks to synergy with a leading company like A2A, is a perfect example of how the companies of our Group interpret sustainability and how we put it into practice.

“
Luca Guglielminotti, vice-president of Vetrobalsamo SpA

It is important to be able to work in the best conditions possible, reducing to a minimum the impact on the environment that surrounds us and giving something back to the area where we are rooted.

“
Marco Sperandio, Chairman of Rea Dalmine

The recovery of heat from our WtE plant is the concrete demonstration of how technological innovation and sustainability can converge so as to generate value, reduce the wastage of resources and promote a more efficient management of energy.

Multinational partners

The invisible heat of data centres serving communities

With leading technological players, we are transforming the heat generated by data centres into energy that can be used for urban district heating. It is a new paradigm of efficiency: we recover waste heat and we introduce it into the network, reducing the dependency on fossil fuels and creating local value.

Thanks to these collaborations, infrastructures designed for the digital sector become energy resources for the well-being of towns and cities.

“
Roberta Neri, Chairwoman of Retelit

With the strong and constant growth of data centres in Italy, too, we believe it is essential to ensure sustainable development, promoting a real commitment to reduce its environmental impact.

“
Paul Benoit, CEO and co-founder of Yes Qarnot

This, the first such project for us in Italy, is a strategic phase for Qarnot. Made possible thanks to collaboration with A2A, it allows us to respond to the growing demand of the Italian market for high-performance cloud solutions (HPC), efficient from an energy point of view and able to guarantee a high level of technological autonomy.

Commercial partners

Regenerating districts to fuel the future

We are working side by side with property developers and other businesses who choose district heating for upgrading and new urban development projects. From the Terme di Montel to CityLife, from SeiMilano to UpTown and the new Galeazzi hospital, we are bringing clean energy and cutting-edge infrastructures to the places where we live, study and work.

Each project is another block in the building of more modern, safer and more efficient towns and cities.

UPTOWN, Cascina Merlata

To Italy’s first Smart District, fruit of the collaboration with Euromilano and Open Fiber, we have brought our geothermal district heating and district cooling: advanced infrastructures for a totally sustainable, zero-emissions area.

SeiMilano – Borio Mangiarotti

Together with Borio Mangiarotti, we have created a sustainable air-conditioning system for the SeiMilano district, avoiding the emission of 800 tonnes of CO2 every year.

Galeazzi Hospital, Milan

In collaboration with Gruppo San Donato, we have provided district heating to the new Galeazzi-Sant’Ambrogio Hospital, contributing to the creation of one of the most sustainable hospitals in Europe, LEED certified, with energy from renewable sources and heat recovery.

Guardia di Finanza, Bergamo

For the new Accademia della Guardia di Finanza, a redevelopment housing the new academy for Italy’s finance and fiscal law enforcement agency, we worked with Cogenera to create a technological hub with cogeneration integrated into the city’s district heating network, ensuring energy efficiency and sustainable comfort all year round.

“
Edoardo De Albertis, CEO of Borio Mangiarotti

From the very first stages of the development of the project, we put ESG values at its core, with the aim of creating a new place to live, conceived on the principles of sustainability, well-being and social inclusion.

“
Attilio Di Cunto, managing director of EuroMilano

We wanted to build Italy’s first Smart District by seeking to bring in the best technologies in terms of urban planning and thus creating a truly sustainable district.

Universities and research insititutes

Innovation and research for an increasingly sustainable network

For us, innovating means fostering change. This is why we are collaborating with universities and research centres in the experimentation of new technologies, in the study of alternative sources and in the definition of strategies for the decarbonization of the network.

We initiate our projects by listening; they are then grounded on real data and they aim to provide concrete solutions that improve the quality of energy and of the urban environment.
